O
Science and the Environment of Scotland had a focus on geology, landscape, mining, and local use use of stone. We had three all-day field trips: Arthur's Seat and Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh, coastal geology in Fife, and highland/lowland boundary in the Trossachs.
4. Excursion to the coastal town of St. Monan's, Fife, led by Dr. Christina Persano. Why the hard hats while walking through town? 5b. Our intrepid leader, Dr. Christina Persano, had us act out land forms with our bodies. 7. Mariko, Kaori, and Keiko, law students from Japan, participated in the pre-sessional courses and enjoyed spending time with the Beloiters.
8. Dr. Chris Burton talks about the geology of the Trossachs on a beautiful September morning. 9. Lunch stop at the visitor's centre at Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, Trossachs. 10. On the Highland Boundary Fault during an excursion to the Trossachs, near Aberfoyle. Half of the group (on the left) is in the highlands, the other half is in the lowlands!
