SUPPLEMENTS FOR A HEALTHY WOMAN WHO IS PREGNANT DISCLAIMER: So much information is being discovered about nutrition required for women who are pregnant and breastfeeding. Proper nutrition of these women will affect the entire lifetime of the baby. For this reason, I want to share this information so that it can be discussed with your gynecologist or pediatrician. The information is only provided for that purpose. Given the limited nature of products that are currently available, here is a reasonable set of supplements to be discussed with a physician. See pages on pregnancy, breastfeeding, and the pregnancy food pyramid.

Eating 2-3 eggs per day will provide sufficient choline for fetal brain and lutein and zeaxanthin for eyes. One particularly needs vitamins B6, B9, and B12. If you don't get enough veggies, consider a B-complex, but be sure it contains Folic Acid, B9, as many do not. There is likely advantage to obtaining the vitamin E containing gamma-tocopherol. |
