For answers to questions, contact ordman@beloit.edu HOW NUTRIENTS PROBABLY WORK SUMMARY: Based on a double-blind placebo-controlled weight loss study of 67 people conducted in the spring of 2007, the following hypotheses were developed about how nutrient signaling might cause people to lose weight spontanenously. Three nutrients shown in Table 1 send signals to your body when taken in 5 gram doses zero to three hours before breakfast and again before your evening meal. DOSAGE TO TRY: Below are suggestions to discuss with your health professional about how much to take and where to obtain these nutrients. Table 2 shows the various doses one can try. For instance, the lowest signal to lose weight is obtained by taking one-half capsule of branched chain amino acids (BCAA) and 1.25 tsp of olive oil before breakfast and again before dinner. It is suggested that young women and all men try this signal level first. If after two weeks, no weight has been loss, then progress to the medium signal level. Expected Risks. There are no expected risks, except weight loss. It is acceptable for you to lose up to 2 pounds during any seven day period. It might be useful to keep track of your waist-to-height ratio at http://home.fuse.net/clymer/bmi/. You should not go below a healthy waist-to-height ratio of at least 43%. On days when you have lost more than that, do not take the regimen. If there is any chance you may become pregnant, you should not do this.
